About Me (cont'd)

Since starting to turn pens, I had turned a couple of really primitive bowls on the midi-lathe, and had decided that was what I wanted to pursue. In 2004, I was able to purchase a Oneway 1640, and I haven't looked back. I have taken lessons from several local turners, and have been turning nearly everyday for the better part of the last year.

Several of my pieces are displayed at a local gallery (East Wake Hardwoods and Gallery, Zebulon, NC). In April 2005, I entered three pieces in the Klingspor Annual Woodturning Contest here in Raleigh, NC; I was awarded First and Second prizes and an Honorable Mention in the Novice division (the pieces are pictured in my Woodturning Gallery).

My long-range goal is to become proficient enough at turning to be able to attract private students and pass along the knowledge I have gained from my mentors. Teaching has always been a passion of mine, and I can think of no better life than to combine two passions...woodworking and teaching.
